I’m skipping church today for a much better reason than I did several weeks ago. Several weeks ago, the excuse was, no clean underwear. And I didn’t think I could go to church commando. My mom calls that, “ox in the ditch” time. I call that “Home Ec 101 Seal of Disapproval” time.

So, Home Eccers, let’s hear your confessions. Did you skip church? (Or do you skip church literally every week because you’re not a churchgoer? I’ve been there.) Have you committed a grevious household sin? We want to know about it!

Sharing is caring!

  1. not skipping church, but Sunday school – which goes against everything ingrained to me. the reason? my church doesn’t have a class that “fits” me — and I’m tired of feeling excluded

  2. Its too funny that you are posting this today. I *am* skipping church today! My husband and i took part in an all-day annual cheritable event that happened yesterday, starting at 5am, and on top of it our dog was sick all night and kept us up. So… sleep in today!

Also, I have a section on my blog called “Armchair Confessional” where I confess my housekeeping sins. You can check it out at armchairhousewife.blogspot.com

Loving your blog! I link to you from my site. 🙂

    Blessings,

  3. This is funny, because I as well skipped church today.

I am getting a cold, and don’t want to get anyone sick, as our church has a passing of the peace, and people don’t take it too kindly when you don’t shake hands with them.

Plus, I made a trip 2 hours south and back yesterday to visit friends.

  4. We did the same thing today, but my daughter has a fever and I didn’t think it best to infect anyone else at church. She was also up 2 times last night because of it. A bummer of the day- we won’t be able to make a fun family picnic because of the sickness. Boo-hoo. Mommy is just going to go grocery shopping by herself- woo-hoo!

  5. ALMOST skipped today because I’m still in that post-baby body and in between maternity and regular clothes. ARGH. But went anyway, feeling not so hot and wound up seeing an old friend who happened to be visiting from out of town. Funny how God can brighten your day like that. As Chris Rice says…” So much for my sad song…”

  6. I skipped since my throat was feeling sore. I probably could’ve gone, but I’ve got a busy week and sleeping for another 3 hours has done wonders for me.

  7. Yeah… I skipped church… 🙁 I have a cold, BUT stayed home due to my new bedrest edict… Maybe I should have gone though – might have induced labor?!?!

  8. I didn’t skip church, but I really thought long an hard about getting out of my nice warm bed. My church really gets you because it is run by the congregation so if you don’t show up with out some planning then something important is not getting done. Darn the guilt! (I am just kidding about being guilted, I do like going and I mostly enjoy the kids I teach)

  9. I have skipped for the past couple of weeks. I skipped today because I was having my dad and step mom over for lunch and I had forgotten to buy her birthday present… from 2 months ago (haven’t seen her since then). Oops! 🙂 Week before that, out of town. Week before that, had company in town that didn’t go to church. Week before that, out of town, and week before THAT, out of town!!!

I hope I can make it next week!!!!!

  10. Okay, wish I had. 😉

Visiting minister of music, and hubby drops the CD UNDER the sound booth. Yes, it is now UNDER the floor of the sound booth. After last weeks power down and crash, this week we planned no excitement.

And so we could not stop giggling about it. The thing is the box sits up higher than the rest of the church so we stand out like a sore thumb and we are up there like two teenagers giggling about this lost CD.

Oh well, at least we were there right?!?

  11. I went, but I made my husband get up with the kids this morning because I was just too cozy. Sloth.

  12. We went, but got there late because DH wanted to go to McDonald’s first to get some hashbrowns with Monopoly game pieces – he is a Monopoly fan and a slave to All Things Monopoly, which unfortunately, includes McDonald’s annual bastardization of the game. I’ll have to bring him down off his $1 Sweet Tea High.

The ironic thing is, not one of the things we bought specifically to Monopoly tear offs had any game pieces on them. Apparently there are other obsessees in the Gettysburg area and they’ve run out of pieces early. So we were late to church AND got nothing to show for it except greasy potato cakes.

  13. We actually went for the first time in a while. We moved almost two years ago and now our church is about a 1/2 hour drive. First it was bad weather, then it was gas money, and eventually we just stopped going regularly and didn’t need to find an excuse. Last time we went though, DH was very disappointed in the service b/c they changed and okay’d finding a new congregation to join (we attend the one he grew up in). So hopefully we’ll start going regularly again!
