Ivy says:
Christmas time always makes me think back to times I’ve had with my friends and family and all the love I’ve been shown over the years- not just at Christmas, but during the entire year. So, this year I’m showing some love to my friends and some other people I greatly admire.
First, a trio of truly great ladies that have been my friend and have been there for me at times I really needed them- the wonderful Kathy T, Ginger Snaps, and Newscoma. They’ve shown me so much love and friendship that it’s hard to be able to thank them properly. Each one of them has had serious personal struggles this year, but have been amazing to me when I needed it, even through their own troubles. I pray that 2009 is the year that these three ladies triumph over all they’ve been dealing with.
Next, some people who are some of my online heroes- I’ve not met but one of them, but when I’m looking to be inspired to be a better writer, wife, mother, be greener- these are the places I go. That would be Jeffrey Davis of the Fun Times Guide to Living Green, Jenn of Frugal Upstate, and Meredith of Like Merchant Ships. What’s funny is, Jenn and Jeffrey don’t know each other as far as I know, but they both have great minds and think alike- they both have yumtastic recipes for Oreo Truffles- Jeffrey’s recipe, natch, is eco- and vegetarian-friendly and Jenn’s recipe is frugal-friendly. I laughed today when I saw the similarity. Meredith’ll probably chime in any minute now, making her recipe beautiful and stylish.
Then there are the non-bloggers in my life that love me and inspire me- my cousin Stephanie who has come back from some of the hardest times in her life and is becoming the person she wants to be; my friend Leniecia who has graduated from college this year despite holding down a full time job and taking care of everyone and everything around her; and my pal and uncle UJ, who is always teaching me something new and fabulous, from the length of days in Minnesota compared to Tennessee, to how to deal with my depression. And a whole bunch of other stuff in between.
So, Home Eccers, I’m spreading the love and I’d love for you to do so as well. Feel free to talk about who you love and admire in the comments or on your own blog and then link us up in the comments! Let’s hear it, Home Eccers!
awww wow ivy. i’m totally dumbfounded that you would mention me in such a list! if it wasn’t my 5th wedding anniversary today, that would have totally made my day (instead it just added to it’s greatness dramatically ;-)).
thanks a ton for the mention and you’re right, it’s crazy how similar my recipe and Jenn’s was! ha! You’re right, we don’t know each other, and i had never even been to her blog…but i’ll be back to it!
Wow!
Just Wow!
I am so flattered right now. How wonderful and sweet of you to say such nice things about me. You made my day.
And although I love Meredith to pieces (who wouldn’t) I admit I’d never met Jeffery before. Of course now I HAVE to check him out, as you obviously have impeccable taste in people 🙂
Girl… you make me teary-eyed. I *love* you too! Merry Christmas!
What a great post… It is always nice to remind the ones that mean something to you, just how much they mean. Many times that is over looked and assumed that they already know that, but it is so nice that you reminded these great people just how much they mean to you (they all have really great blogs, too)
I do have one person that has helped me through so much the last few years. I think I would not be in the place I am mentally without her. She is truely a great friend and even though we do not live close, she is still always there to help and give me hope when I need it.
