With the book safely in the hands of the copy-editor, boy could I use one here, I’ve had a little more time on my hands. I wasted a bit of it decompressing, reacquainting myself with my family, adjusting to communication without the aid of a keyboard, trying to figure out what that bright shiny ball in the sky might be. . . Now I’m ready to refocus on the site itself.
I recently updated the comment policy and returned it to its place under Site Information and Disclosure. I thought I should make mention of it for regulars who may read only via email or RSS.
I also edited the weekly chore chart for clarity and I’m working on making a nice printable version.
Did you know this website has over 1440 posts? That’s a lot of buried information. I’m trying to figure out a way to make all of that information more accessible to newer readers -hi guys! If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.
I’d also like a little general feedback. If you have a minute, please complete this quick reader poll. It’s all confidential.
Thank you so much.
I like the fact that you try to "keep it real" Heather and you dont put on any pretenses. I like your wit and humor in your writing. Keep up the good work.
Wow 1440 posts.. I always find something intersting when I read your posts. 🙂
Casual Kitchen does a throwback post once a week "Retro Sundays" – a roundup of three to four posts that were posted on that same week in previous years. Plus, you know, categories and tags.
Here's an example: http://casualkitchen.blogspot.com/2010/07/retro-s…
I used to do Retro Saturday, not sure why I quit, I think I had assumed there was no interest.
This would probably be a real pain to implement (but since you asked), I would go back to more of a magazine style, with "Sections" (High Level General Categories) such as Food, Reviews, Tips. Regular Categories are OK, but still make it hard to find some things (for example Is it in "Clean It" or "Cleaning 101").
As you so properly point out, as the sight grows it becomes difficult to find all the treasures that already lurk here.
Hi Heather! I just tried to follow you on twitter, but it says I've been blocked from following you? Not sure what that means.
I have no idea, but I'm investigating it now. I love your site and know I wouldn't have purposefully blocked you.
I have noticed there is no Sewing or Crafts link… might want to consider that. (I have an affection for Ivy's sewing posts.)
